Popular game pulled from sale
By Sam Varghese
July 29, 2005 - 5:49PM

The popular computer game Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas has been withdrawn from sale in Australia after the Office of Film and Literature Classification revoked its MA15+ classification.

The board said in a statement today that the game contained "contentious material" that had not been brought to the board's attention when it was classified.

There is no R rating for video games in Australia.

Take Two Interactive, the parent company of the game maker Rockstar Games, confirmed there were sex scenes in the retail version of the game on July 20 following which the US Entertainment Software Rating Board changed the game's rating from M to R18.

A grandmother in the US has sued Rockstar and Take Two on behalf of US consumers.

The issue came to light on July 11 when a freelance programmer in the US released a software "mod" making it possible to view the sex scenes.

The game was released in Australia last October with an MA 15+ rating, as it contained "medium-level animated violence and medium-level coarse language".

The OFLC said it found that the content unlocked by the "hot coffee" mod could not be accommodated under the MA15+ classification .

The game cannot now be legally sold, hired, advertised or exhibited in Australia.

"Businesses that sell or hire computer games should remove existing stocks of this game from their shelves immediately," said OFLC director Des Clark.

"Parents are strongly advised to exercise caution in allowing children continued access to the game, particularly if they might have access to the 'Hot Coffee' modification."

LOL will this stay on PS2 because it can't be moded like that?

It should be legal still because the game doesn't come with this mod on it does it? Otherwise all games should be banned cause you could just download some porn hack for those games too..

Yes it will be taken off PS2 because it is in the game files, you just need the SAuncensorer or something like that. I think that this is bull, they should just take off the game and then re-release a version without the sex scenes.

Nothing... :S... It's San Andreas being removed from sale... why would it affect the next one?

To access it you probably have to import a hack... use google if you want to know how.

It cannot be accessed on Xbox as far as anybody knows so it will stay on that console. For the PS2 version you need to download something off the net and link to your PS2. Then u have to do all these gameshark things + use cheats. I investigated into this once they said it might be banned and it sucks, they should just ban the mod.

It will be removed from Xbox and Pc more then likely.
Due to the fact, the Xbox has a hard drive. And the Hot Coffee Mod can easily be downloaded on to it. Infact, there are some Xbox magazines that are offering the mod.

If you wan't it, look up "Hot coffee Mod", it's ****ing cool. Mind you, i am a guy.

I got the edited version and I am pretty sure they just removed the Hot Coffee content. I got it on PC though, and in my opinion, it's pretty weak. They are fully clothed and everything.

Language and Voilence doesn't have a limit, so that wouldn't have been toned down. There is alot of games and movies with language way worser.
