TOKYO -- A Japanese man and his two sisters were worried something might be wrong with dad. And they were right.
The old man had been dead for nearly a decade. Police questioned the three elderly siblings Tuesday, after the decomposing body of their father was found lying on a futon bed in the family's home.
Police said the man's children thought he was still alive, but became worried lately and consulted a relative. Police said judging by the condition of the remains, the father could have died as long as 10 years ago.

Now that is a weird story... most likely not true. Think of the stench, especially if he had been decomposing for 10 years.

How could they not realise he was dead? For one thing they wouldn't have seen him move for 10 years and also they would have realsied that after being asleep for more than 10 days something was wrong with him.

The story is true I heard it on the news!! lol, that's just like saying i read it on the internet, the news gets a lot of things wrong. It said he was in the family house and the family would have at least called him to check if he was okay once a year and special occasions!!

I think if it was to be true there must be a lot of little details being missed out of it because how did they notice after 10 years if they hated him then?? bit silly, and you'd at least call after maybe 5 years to check up.

Maybe they hated him??? I believe this story is true..... farfetched but true. How can it be true? The story has absolutely no plausible explanation to how he went unnoticed for 10 years and like Doin it 619 Style how could they miss the smell? And wouldn't someone from his office know? or wouldn't the mailman notice that there was 10 years of mail in his letterbox? Maybe he just died a few days ago but his family never knew? Either way this story is not true...

I rekon he lived in the same house as the people that found him and that he was a hermit without a job who probably got no mail and never saw his family cause maybe he doent like them...

Ummm....Thats extremely farfetched. What about the smell? wouldn't somebody notice? unless he lived in a forest in solitary confinement, it would be hard not to notice the smell. Thsi is Japan remember? Japan has flats mainly and closely built houses. You wouldn't not notice the smell of a decomposing body.

Maybe they did notice the smell and thought the weird bloke was doing some sort of experiment that might endanger them and when they yelled to him and he didn't answer... they assumed he was ignoring them???

Police said judging by the condition of the remains, the father could have died as long as 10 years ago. There are many holes in this story. Normally, they would have said the cause of death.
