I just got back from Melbourne last night. I had gone up with the Junior footy club to a couple of games. First we drove up to Perth and watched Saints vs Dockers, which was a :-*ing awesome game. We got our tickets for free from the Dockers, and we were right up in the top of the stands behind the goals which was pretty bad when the ball was down the other end. But it worked out good because we were in the perfect position to see McPharlin's mark and the winning goal.
We flew to Melbourne at like 11:00, so we didn't catch much sleep before going to watch the Eagles vs Geelong game in Geelong. We had to catch a train. When we were walking around to the right gate at Skilled Stadium (not a very good ground... very small) we saw Barnard with like the Essendon development squad who had played against Geelong's. The Eagles vs Geelong game was pretty crappy, but our seats were good because we were three rows back from the fence in the pocket. Luckily heaps of stuff happened in that pocket, I think I got on TV a few times waving an Eagle's scarf. Also we saw all three Ablett's in one day ;D
After that we had to catch the train back right away, because we decided we were going to watch the Bulldogs vs Melbourne game. That was a great game like the Docker's, as it was so close and was won in the last minute. It was at the MCG, and it was just massive in there.... :-*ing awsome.
The next day we were either gonna watch Carlton vs Essendon or Richmond vs Hawthorn and we decided to watch Richmond vs Hawthorn. It turned out to be a good choice because the game was an absolute blinder! The place was mental, especially when the Tigers won it in the last 50 seconds!
On the Monday we just went to the AFL Sensation and Hall of Fame. There is heaps of stuff to do, and it is all fun. I reccomend it to anyone who is in Melbourne to check it out. They had some awesome stuff, one thing they had was there was a big screen with a net in front. On the screen it had certain moments in footy where a player had a shot at goal, and then you kicked it into the net and try and kick goals... awesome fun. They also had some hand skill games, like one where it is the ruck knock, and a ball falls from above, and you have to catch it and hand ball of to holes that flash. They put alot of cash and effort into the Sensation and it was worth it.
I have some photos of some of the things we did, here is just one photos, I'll post the others when I get the chance:
