JBL vs BIG SHOW
for the WWE title
WWE Champion JBL barely had time to savor his impressive Triple Threat Match victory over Big Show and Kurt Angle at the Royal Rumble when General Manager Theodore Long had some sobering news for the champ.
Long made the first-ever Barbed Wire Steel Cage Match, featuring JBL, who has now been champion for seven months, against Big Show, the Superstar JBL didn't pin at the Royal Rumble.
Will this ultra-dangerous match finally spell the end of JBL's reign? Or will JBL manage to hang on to his dear belt for yet another magical night?
UNDERTAKER vs LUTHER REIGNS
Luther Reigns hasn't actually been on the good side of Undertaker lately.
Of course, Kurt Angle's menacing henchman and former prison inmate couldn't care less.
This budding rivalry started during Taker's quarterfinal match with Rene Dupree in the SmackDown! No. 1 Contender Tournament.
Reigns and Mark Jindrak wanted to make sure Taker couldn't advance and possibly face Angle in the next round. As a result, their interference forced a Double Countout and cost Taker a chance to headline WrestleMania 21.
One week later, Reigns announced he hardly was scared of Undertaker. Later on, Taker appeared during a tag team match during SmackDown! from Japan.
Reigns would clear the ring, leaving Jindrak to take the brunt of the punishment.
But he won't have room to hide in Pittsburgh on Feb. 20, at No Way Out.
KURT ANGLE vs JOHN CENA
for the No 1 Contendership for the WWE title
The Road to the WrestleMania 21 main event will hit a dead end for one of these SmackDown! Superstars at No Way Out on Feb. 20 in Pittsburgh.
Kurt Angle, a four-time WWE Champion, will take on Cena in Angle’s hometown in the final of the No. 1 Contender's Tournament.
The winner of this match will have a chance at the WWE Championship at WrestleMania 21 on April 3. That match will either be a one-on-one encounter with the WWE Champion at the time, or a Triple Threat Match that includes the champion, the tournament winner and Batista, if Batista decides he wants to leave RAW and pursue the WWE Championship.
Angle defeated Rey Mysterio in his quarterfinal match and then was fortunate enough to receive a bye into the final when Undertaker and Rene Dupree had their match end with a Double Countout.
Of course, Angle henchmen Luther Reigns and Mark Jindrak supplied the timely interference to cost Taker a chance at advancing.
Meanwhile, Cena won matches against Orlando Jordan and Booker T to advance to the final of the tourney SmackDown! General Manager Theodore Long organized after the Royal Rumble.
Somebody will get an elusive shot at the WWE Championship, and somebody will need to make new plans for WrestleMania 21.
Don’t miss No Way Out to see how it all unfolds on Feb. 20.
REY MYSTERIO AND EDDIE GURERRO vs THE BASHAM BROTHERS
for the WWE Tag Team Titles
Eddie Guerrero and Rey Mysterio are undoubtedly two of the most popular Superstars on SmackDown! today.
They are also two of the greatest Latino wrestlers of all-time.
And at No Way Out on Feb. 20, Rey and Eddie will team up with a chance to add to their already impressive resumes. Mysterio & Guerrero will face the Bashams for the WWE Tag Team Championship.
The Bashams have had a terrific run of success since joining JBL’s Cabinet as the WWE Champion’s Secretaries of Defense.
They defeated Rey Mysterio and then-partner Rob Van Dam to win the title in January, but the Bashams helped themselves in that match by taking out an already injured RVD by smashing his knee with the steel steps.
But Doug & Danny will have their hands full against two of the most athletic men on the SmackDown! roster.
CRUISERWEIGHT CHAMPIONSHIP ELIMINATION MATCH
Funaki has been on quite a roll since upsetting Spike Dudley for the Cruiserweight Championship at Armageddon.
But now, SmackDown!’s self-proclaimed No. 1 announcer will have his hands full in a six-man Elimination Match for the championship.
Funaki will share the ring with Paul London, Shannon Moore, Chavo Guerrero, Spike Dudley and Akio in what figures to be an exciting and high-flying match.
ROOKIE DIVA 2005 COMPETITION
Joy, Michelle, Rochelle and Lauren will compete in three sexy events to determine the SmackDown! Rookie Diva of 2005.
There will be Swimsuit, Evening Gown and Talent competitions, and the winner will be decided through arena and on-line voting among WWE fans.
All four ladies already began campaigning, prancing around the ring during a tag team match on the last SmackDown!, holding up signs with their names.
Don’t miss out as the best young Divas try and outdo each other at No Way Out on Sunday.
